Starting from Scratch
Updated: Feb 19, 2024
Ironically, this post has been stuck in my drafts. I thought it had posted but it hadn't. I realised it was out of date slightly with references to Boris etc, but I liked the point reading back on it
-----
I've made a hard choice recently. Over the last few months I've struggled to get into the motivation for writing new material on here. I've really wanted to, but I haven't been able to actually bring myself to finish an article. I've not been inspired, or I've run out of steam half way through. It's not that I don't want to do this blog, but I just couldn't get inspired or motivated.
I tried writing about my lack of motivation, posts that would interest me, or even things that annoyed me like Boris Johnson having another party. (I think he's the only person whose been to more parties than me recently and it' my job)
For the last month alone I've had about 20 blog posts full of ideas in my drafts. Some were really good, and I would probably come back to them in the next few months as I re find my voice on here. But I've got into a really bad cycle where I've started blogs and lost inspiration. It's infuriating. To have that creativity and well... it just disappears or I cant finish a project.
I've had a few days to myself recently and one of my projects that I wanted to do was to finish some of those blogs I'd started. So I did. I spent ages on blog posts that just went no where. The last day or so I had enough, I was walking through the shops when I had a thought.
I've decided to delete my blog.
Now before you panic and think why the hell am I telling you this and not just deleting the blog what I actually mean is that I'm wiping the back area of the blog clean. I've deleted all my drafts, notes, thoughts and comments and I'm starting afresh.
And it's worked miracles. Suddenly clearing the slate clean has done wonders for my inspiration. having done this and writing about it has really cleared my head about the blog. It's allowed me a chance to start again and get motivated and inspired.
It's made me realise that sometimes especially with performing that you need to do this with a routine you are working on. Sometimes you can get so bogged down in a routine, deep into a rabbit hole of a script that you're working on that sometimes all you can do is stop, scrap it all and start again.
Just like this blog when things start to get stale, or when things get wrapped in so many layers its just hard to get it finished it's sometimes best to clear your head and if it means starting again so be it. I've done it with routines before where I've given up and started again and got sometime a million times better.
Hopefully this will be the same with this blog.
To new beginnings...
